Short Naps = Short Posts

I could write an entire book on how absolutely perfect and precious my little man is but unfortunately he’s still in the short nap phase and I am trying to sleep whenever he sleeps.  That being said, sometimes it feels like I don’t have time to shower, go to the bathroom, or brush my teeth much less write a blog. But my mother-in-law has been so helpful!  She comes over to watch the little man at a moments notice so I can shower and sometimes even nap.

Anyway, here is the long overdue post of Landry’s entrance into this world.  I was scheduled to be induced a week early on Tuesday, July 26th.  My doctor thought I looked ready so we were all set.  My parents decided to come to town Sunday night so the boys could golf Monday and mom and I could do some last minute shopping.  Well, Landry had other plans.  I woke up Monday morning about 1:30 b/c I thought I heard a weird noise.  No joke people, the noise I heard was my water breaking.  I was SO excited!!  I jumped on the bed and woke Mike up to tell him.  His response, “Shut up Aspen that’s not funny.  Go back to sleep.”  So I ran to the guest room to wake up my parents.  My mom jumped up and said she needed to shower and my dad congratulated me and then asked if he could go back to bed until mom was ready.

Well since my mom was going to be clean I wanted to as well.  So before calling the doctor I took a nice long shower, shaved my legs, and flat ironed my hair.  When I called the doctor he just laughed at me and told me to head to the hospital.  We arrived about 3:00 and I was all set up with my blood work and IVs.  The nurse came in shortly after and asked how my contractions were feeling.  They weren’t too bad yet but were coming pretty close together so they decided to go ahead and give me the epidural.  How lucky was I?  I was never in a lot of pain.

Here we are getting ready to become parents…

I was a little nervous in the weeks leading up to my delivery just about the pain or complications but I must say that fortunately I had THE EASIEST delivery ever.  Praise the Lord!  When I arrived at the hospital I was dilated at 3 cm.  By the time I got the epidural a couple of hours later I was at a 5.  The nurse brought Mike breakfast and we sat and watched TV with my parents and godmother just like a normal day.  I was feeling great so the nurse wanted to check me one more time.  All of the sudden I was dilated 9 cm and the nurse was calling the doctor! Actually she was calling the on call doctor because my doctor was out of town for the day.  Sad smile I was sad not to have my doctor there but I ended up really liking the on call doctor.  I pushed for about an hour while we watched sports center and talked about the NFL lockout and the next thing I know they are telling me to reach down and touch his head. At 11:23a.m. my little munchkin had finally arrived!!! Weighing in at 6 lbs. 13 oz. and 9 inches long besides a funky cone head he was perfect!

Welcome Landry Michael Bischoff…

Finally mommy gets to snuggle him!  I’d waited 9 months for this moment and it was SO worth the wait.  He was jus perfect and melted my heart from the first time I saw him.  When they laid him on my chest and he stretched out that little hand all I could think of was how perfect he was and that he was all mine.  I was the luckiest momma in the world!

While he had his first bath, which he loved, and was being all snuggled up they served me my favorite lunch by request, grilled cheese and french fries, yummy!!

Next came all of the visitors, grandparents, godparents, aunts, uncles, and friends.  There were people waiting for us to hurry into the post partum room to see my baby.  I’m not going to lie, I loved seeing everyone get so excited to see him and snuggle with my baby but I really wanted to snatch him away and ask everyone to leave so I could just hold him and stare at him. Here are some of our special family and friends who visited…

Poppa held him first and then passed him to Nanna (somehow I didn’t get a picture of my mom holding him for the first time Sad smile) then to  Grandpa and Grandma

GG Cindy and Aunt Alex spent all morning waiting on him to be born.   Aunt Jessi and Erin were ready there too!

Thanks to everyone who came and visited and brought all sorts of gifts and flowers and baskets of goodies.  We are so blessed to have you as a part of our lives and now Landry’s life as well.

Here are some more pics of the rest of our time in the hospital.  We had a great stay and had some amazing nurses.  Everyone was so sweet and helpful that I was actually sad when it was time to leave.

Watching the hearing test was really neat.  It looked like he was chilling with his own ipod

On the morning of our discharge Mike went and bought some super cute cupcakes for the nurses.  Landry’s sweet nursery nurse, Missy, came and stamped his foot prints on all of our thank you cards to pass out with the treats.  I talked all day about getting a picture of the cards and cupcakes before we passed them out but of course I forgot.  But here are our cute cards.

Finally, on our ride home I just couldn’t help myself from snapping away at every little precious part of my baby.  I wanted to remember the way his hands, feet, ears, and toes looked on the day we took him home.  I must say, most of them turned out pretty cute.

Well it was a longer nap than I thought.  Now I get to go snuggle with my little man some more.  I can’t believe how fast the time is flying by already.  Landry will be six weeks old on Monday and his personality is beginning to shine.  He is just precious!! I’ll post more later when I have another moment to catch my breath, until then, enjoy these photos of my snuggle bug!

I have already told Craig that and she isn't even here yet! We think we might wait a little to let everyone back, but don't tell them that :)
